Description: This painting depicts the biblical story of David and Abigail. David is a young shepherd who has been anointed by God to be the next king of Israel. Abigail is a beautiful and wise woman who is married to Nabal, a wealthy landowner. Nabal refuses to give David and his men food, so Abigail takes it upon herself to bring them provisions. When she meets David, she kneels before him and offers him her gifts. David is impressed by Abigail’s humility and wisdom, and he spares Nabal’s life.
