Description: This is a preparatory drawing by the Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo for the ceiling of the Throne Room in the Royal Palace in Madrid. The ceiling was destroyed in a fire in 1734, and Tiepolo’s drawing is the only surviving record of its design.
