Description: The Assumption of the Virgin is a large oil painting by Peter Paul Rubens, executed c. 1626. The altarpiece was painted for the high altar of the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp, where it remained until 1794, when it was taken to Paris by French Revolutionary forces. Since 1815, it has been in the collection of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.
