Description: Frans Pourbus the Younger (1569-1622) was the son of the court painter to the Habsburg governors of the Netherlands. In 1591 he became court painter to the Duke of Mantua, and in 1600 he moved to Paris, where he worked for Marie de’ Medici. This portrait is in the style of Pourbus’s French period.
