Description: Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), was an Anglo-Irish soldier and statesman who was one of the leading military and political figures of the 19th century. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, from 1828 to 1830 and again from 1834 to 1834. He is best known for his military career, in which he led the allied forces to victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
