Description: This portrait shows Fitzroy James Henry Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan (1788-1855), a British soldier and military theorist. He served as military secretary to the Duke of Wellington during the Peninsular War and the Battle of Waterloo. In 1854 he was appointed commander of the British forces in the Crimean War. He died of cholera in June 1855.
