Description: Joseph Bonomi the Younger (1796-1878) was an Unknown sculptor and Egyptologist. He was the son of the architect Joseph Bonomi the Elder (1739-1808) and the brother of the architect Ignatius Bonomi (1787-1870). He was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. In 1824 he travelled to Egypt and worked as an assistant to the artist Giovanni Battista Belzoni. In 1828 he returned to England and published a book of his drawings of Egyptian monuments. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1832 and a member of the Royal Academy in 1840. He died in London in 1878.
