Description: This is a preparatory drawing for a ceiling fresco in the Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia. The fresco was commissioned by Cardinal Flavio Chigi in 1661 and completed in 1662. The painting depicts Apollo and Diana, the personifications of the sun and the moon, driving their respective chariots across the sky.
