Description: The Paumgartner Altarpiece is a large oil-on-panel painting by the German artistAlbrecht Durer. The work was commissioned by the Paumgartner family for their chapel in the Church of St. Sebald in Nuremberg, Germany. It was completed in 1503 and is considered to be one of Durer’s masterpieces. The altarpiece consists of nine panels, each depicting a scene from the life of Christ. The central panel shows the Adoration of the Magi, with the Virgin Mary and Child flanked by the Three Wise Men. The other panels depict the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Flight into Egypt, the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, the Baptism of Christ, the Transfiguration, the Last Supper, and the Crucifixion.
