Description: The painting is a fresco by the Italian Renaissance artist Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, executed between 1509 and 1510 as part of his commission to decorate the papal apartments in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. The fresco is located above the altar in the Stanza della Segnatura, the first of the four rooms that constitute the appartamento.
