Description: Alexander Stewart (1783-1843) was a Scottish advocate and amateur artist. He was the son of Dugald Stewart, and the brother of Charles Stewart. He was educated at the High School of Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh, where he studied law. graduating, he became an advocate in 1807. He was a member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh from 1811. He died in Edinburgh in 1843.
