Description: This is a bozzetto for an altarpiece in the church of San Fernando in Madrid. The modello is the preparatory drawing for the altarpiece. The subject is an allegory of religion, with the Catholic Church triumphant over heresy. The composition is divided into two parts. The upper part shows the Catholic Church, represented by a woman holding a cross and a chalice, being crowned by two angels. The lower part shows a group of heretics being defeated by the Church.
