Description: This is a preparatory drawing by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo for the altarpiece in the church of the Gesuati in Venice. The altarpiece was commissioned by the Procurator of St. Mark, Girolamo Zulian, and was completed in 1737. The drawing is in pen and brown ink with brown wash, heightened with white gouache, over black chalk.
