Artist: Paul Signac
Artwork: Antibes, The Ramparts
Description: In the summer of 1895, Signac settled in Saint-Tropez, a small fishing port on the Cote d’Azur. He was fascinated by the play of light on the water and the effects of the mistral, a strong, cold wind that blows from the north. This painting shows the view from the ramparts of the town, looking out over the Mediterranean Sea.
