Description: Gustav Klimt painted four versions of “Birch Forest” between 1901 and 1902. This is the first version. He painted it in the summer of 1901, probably in Attersee. The painting shows a dense grove of birch trees with their trunks covered in black and white patches. The ground is covered with fallen leaves.
