Description: The painting depicts the moment when Hercules, having been tricked by the centaur Nessus into believing that his wife Deianeira is unfaithful, shoots Nessus with a poisoned arrow. Deianeira, unaware of the poison, later uses the blood of Nessus to anoint Hercules, causing his death.
