Description: Incense is a painting by Belgian artist Fernand Khnopff. The painting was completed in 1898 and is currently housed in the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. The painting depicts a young woman dressed in a sumptuous robe with an elaborate headdress. She is holding a censer from which incense smoke is rising. The woman’s face is expressionless and her eyes are downcast. The painting is a masterpiece of Symbolism, and it has been interpreted in many different ways.
