Description: This is a preparatory drawing for a fresco by Marcantonio Franceschini. The fresco was painted in 1696 and is now in the Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia. The drawing shows Jupiter and Ganymede in a chariot drawn by two horses. Jupiter is holding a thunderbolt and Ganymede is holding a cup. The drawing is in pen and brown ink and wash over black chalk.
