Description: Michiel Jansz. van Mierevelt painted portraits of many of the prominent figures of the Dutch Golden Age. He was known for his ability to capture the likeness of his subjects, as well as his attention to detail. This portrait is a fine example of his work. The woman is depicted in a red dress with a white collar. Her hair is pulled back in a bun and she is wearing a pearl necklace. The background is a dark brown color, which helps to make the woman stand out. The painting is signed and dated 1630.
