Description: Felicia Hemans (1793-1835) was a British poet. She was born in Liverpool and began writing poetry at an early age. Her first volume of poetry, Poems, was published in 1808. She married Captain Alfred Hemans in 1812 and had five sons. Her husband died in 1817, leaving her to raise her children alone. She continued to write poetry and published several more volumes, including The Forest Sanctuary (1825) and Songs of the Affections (1830). She died in Dublin in 1835.
