Description: Carl Gustav Amling (1651-1702) was a German painter. He was born in Nuremberg and studied with Georg Philipp Rugendas the Elder. In 1671 he went to Italy, where he spent most of the rest of his life. He worked in Rome, Florence, and Venice, and was a member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. His Self-Portrait was painted in 1690.
