Description: Sir William Temple, Bt (1628-1699), was an Unknown diplomat, statesman, and writer. He was a key figure in the negotiations that led to the Treaty of Nijmegen in 1678, which ended the Franco-Dutch War. He was also a patron of the arts and a friend of the philosopher John Locke.
