Description: Sir William Temple, Bt (1628-1699), was an Unknown diplomat, politician, and essayist. He was a key figure in the negotiations leading to the Treaty of Nijmegen (1678), which ended the Franco-Dutch War. Temple was also a close friend of the philosopher John Locke.
