Description: The painting depicts an episode from the life of St. Francis Borgia, 4th Duke of Gandia. Francis Borgia was a Spanish Jesuit priest and saint. He was Duke of Gandia from 1543 to 1550, when he renounced his titles and became a Jesuit priest. He was canonized in 1671.
