Description: This image is a Chippendale design for a state bed, which was published in *The Gentleman and Cabinet-maker’s Director* in 1754. It is one of the most elaborate of Chippendale’s designs, and includes a tester with a crown and ostrich plumes, and a bed with a matching headboard and footboard. The bed is also decorated with carvings of flowers and foliage.
