Description: Raphael’s fresco of the Expulsion of Heliodorus from the Temple is one of the most famous works of the High Renaissance. The fresco depicts the story of Heliodorus, a general of the Seleucid king Seleucus IV Philopator, who attempted to rob the Temple in Jerusalem. Heliodorus was driven out of the Temple by two angels, who scourged him with whips. The fresco is full of drama and movement, and it is a masterpiece of perspective and composition.
