Description: Raphael’s fresco of the Expulsion of Heliodorus from the Temple is one of the most famous works of art in the Vatican. The fresco depicts the story of Heliodorus, a general of the Seleucid king Seleucus IV Philopator, who attempted to rob the Temple in Jerusalem. Heliodorus is shown being driven out of the Temple by a heavenly host led by the archangel Michael.
