Description: The Battle of Clavijo is a large oil painting by the Italian artist Corrado Giaquinto. It is on display in the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. The painting depicts the legendary battle between the Christian forces of King Ramiro I of Asturias and the Muslim forces of the Emir of Cordoba, Abd ar-Rahman II, which took place in 844. The painting was commissioned by King Philip V of Spain and completed in 1734.
