Description: This artwork is a fresco by Michelangelo that is located on the ceiling of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. The fresco depicts the story of Heliodorus, a general of the Seleucid king Seleucus IV Philopator, who attempted to steal the treasures of the Temple in Jerusalem. Heliodorus is shown being driven out of the Temple by two angels, while a horse tramples him underfoot. The fresco is a masterpiece of Renaissance art and is considered one of Michelangelo’s greatest works.
