Description: The Reading or The Politicians is a satirical genre painting by Spanish artist Francisco Goya. It is part of a series of fourteen Black Paintings that Goya painted directly onto the walls of his house sometime between 1819 and 1823. Goya did not provide titles for these works, and the present title was given to it by art historian and early biographer of Goya, Antonio de Becquer.
