Description: This is a preparatory drawing by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo for an altarpiece in the church of the Ospedaletto in Venice. The altarpiece was commissioned by the Procurator of St. Mark, Girolamo Zulian, and was completed in 1737. The drawing is in pen and brown ink with brown wash, heightened with white gouache, over black chalk.
